2nd ANNUAL CHORAL FESTIVAL
FOR ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL CHOIRS

Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble will be hosting 10 choirs from throughout Orange County that will perform for adjudication. The choirs will perform for each other and with each other.
The festival also includes a sight-reading portion that will allow each school to showcase the strength of their musical education program. The sight-reading portion of the festival is integral to fulfilling Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble’s mission to support music education in the community.

- Dr. Chris Peterson, Professor of Music, California State University, Fullerton
Ratings will be a cumulative score based on musical and sight-reading scores from two distinct sections of the festival.
Students will also vote in the selection of the top choir.
- The top two choirs will receive a cash prize to further their program ($750/$250).
- Each participating choir will receive a commemorative plaque.
- A recording of the complete festival alonf with recorded or written comments from the adjudicators will be given to each program.
- All participating programs will be included in a press release detailing the events and outcome of the fesitval.
- The fesitval will conclude with a joint performance including all choirs as well as an encore performance from the top two choirs.
- The festival will include a special performance by Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble.
APPLICATION SUBMISSION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 1, 2023
- Acceptance into the festival will be by a rigorous, blind review process.
